Hi, nice to meet you!

I’m Bianca Hofman, native Dutch translator and copywriter. Specialized in online short copy and conversational content for companies and organisations. Born in Delft, the Netherlands, based in Barcelona, Spain. Creative and tech-savvy.

In my free time I love to write super short poetry, take pictures for my photo stories, learn new things, enjoy Barcelona, read, go for walks on the beach, eat, and, and, and the list goes on. I’m never bored.

My story

After finishing my studies (Journalism, in 2002), I started my writing career in the Netherlands as a communication assistant and copywriter for different companies and organisations. Check my LinkedIn profile for more info. But in 2008 I decided it was time for a huge change.

In that year I worked as a copywriter/projectmanager for Ravestein & Zwart, an communication agency with a focus on HR. I loved my job, the agency and my colleagues. And I worked on great projects. One of them was an IT project for P-Direkt, the HR service provider for the Dutch government. I wrote the short, online user instructions for their new HR portal. The other project was for the ministry of Education in the Netherlands. During this project I wrote and managed online content about secondary vocational education.

Yet, another adventure was calling, a new experience, something completely different and out of my comfort zone….

In 2008 I quit my job and moved to Barcelona in Spain. At that time the financial crisis was in full swing and I was probably in the middle of my quarter life crisis. 🙂 I had no idea how I would make a living in Spain, but somehow this couldn’t stop me. I wanted to live abroad and learn Spanish. That’s was the (vague) plan.

I found a job as a waitress in a sportsbar on the Ramblas, learned Spanish and fell in love with the city.

After one year in Barcelona, I moved back to the Netherlands. I worked a couple of months in tapasbar Barcelona (I swear, this Spanish restaurant was located in Rotterdam, the owner was Jose), turned some blog posts I had written about my life into a book and…

…in 2011 I moved back to Barcelona again. Are you still with me? 🙂

To make a long story short: Back in Barcelona I found a job as a content manager in an online booking agency for holiday apartments. And after 4 years I got the opportunity to work as an in-house technical translator for a software company.

In the meantime I learned Catalan and I got my Shaolin Kung Fu black belt. In case you’d like to talk to me in Catalan about the different Shaolin Kung Fu forms, I’m all ears. 😉

In 2019 I decided to become a fulltime freelance copywriter and translator for the Dutch market.
